Concept/Theme
We had decided a concept for all the website links to be using the colour of white and blue ,because these two colours not only match our topic and also due to the psychology of colours , white colours are associated with purity ; cleanliness and the safety of bright light . It is also used to project the absence of color, or neutrality.White associated with creativity and a compression of all the colors in the color spectrum.
For blue colour, favorite colour of majority people is blue colour, much of the world is blue (skies, seas). Seeing the color blue actually causes the body to produce chemicals that are calming, thus matching with our topic , island , that can bring people in their mind about relaxing in island.

Milestones achieved
We had successfully come out with the concept, besides that we had finished searching and get the details and pictures we want for the topic which are about the introduction, accommodation, activities, and attractions of Sipadan Island. Besides that we managed to come out with a homepage design.
On the other hand , there are milestone yet to be achieve which is linking members' webpage together with our homepage and improving the design of each website .Besides , we still have not learn the Flash , so we still unable to apply Flash on our website yet.

Group Meetings
We conducted our meetings through windows life messenger as this is more flexible because we have different class schedule and we are only free during night. In order to get all members attend the meeting , we could only use the messenger in our group meetings. In the group meetings, we had discussed and decided to choose Sipadan Island as our topic and which information to be used in our website and divide them among us which are introduction, activities, attraction, transportation and accommodation of Sipadan Island.
Besides that, we had discussed about the concept and theme to be applied in our website and we finally come out with the idea which is blue and white colour. In addition, some members are not good in using dreamweaver in creating web page , and we had discussed about the issue and helped each others.

Information

Introduction:

1)Sipadan is the only oceanic island in Malaysia, rising 600 metres (2,000 ft) from the seabed. It is located in the Celebes Sea east of the major town of Tawau and off the coast of Borneo, East Indonesia on the island of Borneo. It was formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct volcanic cone that took thousands of years to develop. Sipadan is located at the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin, the centre of one of the richest marine habitats in the world. More than 3,000 species of fish and hundreds of coral species have been classified in this ecosystem. Sipadan has been rated by many dive journals as one of the top dive destinations in the world.

Normally, rare diving scenes are frequently seen in the waters around Sipadan: schools of green and hawksbill turtles nesting and mating, schools of barracuda and big-eye trevally in tornado-like formations, pelagic species such as manta rays, eagle rays, scalloped hammerhead sharks and whale sharks.

A turtle tomb lies underneath the column of the island, formed by an underwater limestone cave with a labyrinth of tunnels and chambers that contain many skeletal remains of turtles that become lost and drown before finding the surface.

2)Malaysia’s only oceanic island, it is very small – only 12ha. in size. A 25-minute walk is all that is required to circle the island on foot. As an oceanic island, it rises about 700 metres from the sea floor, attracting diverse marine life from the blackness of the open sea. Surrounded by crystal clear waters, this crown jewel is a treasure trove of some of the most amazing marine animals.

Declared a bird sanctuary in 1933 by the Colonial Government of North Borneo and re-gazetted in 1963 by the Malaysian Government, the dense vegetation on Sipadan Island supports a large variety of tropical birds which include sea eagles, kingfishers, sunbirds, starlings and wood pigeons. Exotic crustaceans including the amazing coconut crab roam the beaches and scurry among the undergrowth.

When diving here, encounters with turtles, resident schools of jacks, bumphead parrotfish and barracudas are almost assured around the tiny coral island.

Attraction :

Dive Sides :

The Turtle Tomb Cave

Slightly east of the jetty at 18m is the cave entrance. A labyrinth of tunnels and chambers made famous in the 70's by Jacques Cousteau, the limestone cave is a resting place for turtles who ventured inside, became disorientated and sadly drowned. From inside the cave the entrance is marked by a blue hazy glow, it appears mysterious and enchanting. This is an advanced dive and a guide is mandatory.

Barracuda Point
A fantastic corner dive and arguably the best on offer here, good corals in the shallows sloping to sand then onto the wall. One can hope to see schooling fish including barracuda and jacks, tuna, grey reef shark, white tip shark, turtles and plenty of the usual reef suspects. Currents are temperamental and the less experienced diver should stay with their guide.

Coral Garden
Various healthy corals occupy this sloping reef with many smaller reef fish, turtles and white tip reef sharks. Take time here to look for the macro life on offer such as nudibranchs.

Mid Reef
A large centre section of the east facing wall of the island. This area is in fact more than one dive site. Many turtles, sea fans and barrel sponges on deeper parts of the reef. Look out in the blue from time to time as anything can pass by including the resident school of hammerheads. Suitable for any level of diver, if the current is strong stay close to the reef and enjoy the ride !

Turtle Patch
With a particularly stunning top reef of healthy soft and table corals, anemone's and countless colourful reef fish this site is a wild and natural aquarium. Turtles, bumbhead parrot fish, white tip reef sharks and a very large school of jacks are resident and often seen here. Again watch out in the blue, anything can pass by. Sightings of mobular ray, and hammerheads are intermittently reported.

South Point
Located at the southern most point of the island, the sloping ledge of the islands reef is a textbook coral ecosystem. Suffice to say schools of jacks, rainbow runners, turtles, white tip reef sharks, leopard sharks, the occasional thresher shark can be seen perusing the area. Strong currents are possible but its generally a novice dive for those staying close to the reef.

Staghorn Crest

An area of rubble and coral heads, home to white tip reef sharks, moray eels and turtles, napoleon wrasse and the odd mobular ray that passes by. The area can be choppy on the surface and some shallow corals have been damaged by strong surge. A suitable site for all divers providing the weather is kind.

Hanging Garden and West Ridge
As the name suggests, located on the western side of the island with lots of overhangs, sea fans and barrel sponges. Turtles, white tips, leopard sharks, pygmy devil rays and eagle rays.

North Point
A good early morning site for observing the school of resident bumphead parrot fish. On the northern point and west of the drop off this wall has many overhangs and inlets sheltering large schools of fish. Solitary giant barracuda can be seen on the top reef and close to the drop off. This site is suitable for all level of divers.

Despite what the name suggests, Sipadan Water Village is NOT in Sipadan but on the nearby island of Mabul, on the east coast of Sabah. In fact, by the end of 2004, resorts are not allowed operate on Sipadan Island and those who wish to dive there have to find alternative accommodation in the neighboring islands. It is called a "water village" simply because of the fact that the entire resort is built in pilings and connects to the shore by a long pier.

Sipadan Water Village (SWV) is located on the north eastern side of Mabul Island, a mere 20 minute boat ride from the famed Sipadan Island. Built on stilts SWV prides itself on its level of service, dive sites and dedication to the environment. At present, SWV has 45 "Bajau" styled water cottages, built 1m above the sea. These cottages are laid out in a manner which minimizes damage to the existing coral reefs i.e. if there is coral there, they don't build on top of it.

Activitities:

Malaysia is fast becoming one of the leading dive destinations of the world with one of the richest marine environments in the Indo-Pacific Basin. The incredible bio-diversity of marine life, coupled with beautiful islands, white sandy beaches and clear warm waters, keeps divers coming back time and time again.

Top dive sites around Malaysia include diverse underwater geography such as sloping reefs, coral blocks, wall dives, deep dives, drift dives and wreck dives. A dip below the warm sea’s surface guarantees you an astounding experience, with a concentration of vibrant and exotic marine life rarely rivalled anywhere else in the world.

From schooling Hammerhead Sharks, to huge schools of barracudas and various species of turtles, to the bizarre Frogfish and Ghost Pipefish, there is always something fascinating awaiting you. It's no exaggeration to say that almost every time a marine bio-diversity survey is conducted in Malaysia’s tropical seas, the species list increases!

Dive centres in Malaysia are numerous, well equipped and certified by all the internationally recognised dive agencies like PADI, SSI and SSAC for maintaining their standards of safety and professionalism. Naturally, all scuba diving courses in Malaysian waters are also endorsed by these certifying agencies.

After completing your scuba course, get outfitted with the latest scuba equipment as all international brands are available from dive centres in Malaysia. Almost all the islands in Malaysia cater to divers of all levels of experience - be it easy, shallow drift-diving, to advanced wreck-diving or technical diving.

Located in the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin, the heart of the world's richest marine biodiversity area, Malaysia also offers pristine beaches and professional dive centres for the pleasure and safety of the advanced and novice diver. For a most memorable diving holiday, the time is now, the place is Malaysia.

KEY TIPS:

If you plan to do some diving out here, you should try to book a package with an operator that would include diving, food and accommodation. It's a good way to save money. Also, the sea gets rough and murky during the east coast's monsoon (November - March), so try to time your visit outside of this period.
